Today, August 7, the U.S. Senate voted 86 to 11 for a package of tough sanctions against russia, passing the Lindsey O. Graham Sanctioning russia and Iran Act of 2026 through H.R. 5334. This is an important bipartisan win for Ukraine. The bill strengthens sanctions on russian officials, oligarchs, banks, energy projects and the shadow fleet, and it creates additional economic pressure on countries that keep financing russia's war by buying its oil and gas.
